Teachers always wonder about the impact they have on each child every day. Each time we get down on our knees to wipe a tear, or offer a hug, each time we push our children to try that little bit harder, each time we beam with joy at their every new accomplishment.

When the time comes to say goodbye, we break down and cry, but we’re so so proud that we’ve given our children strong roots to ground them, and wings to fly, and we watch them head off to follow their own paths and passions in life.

Like parents, we follow their journeys and continue to take pride in all their accomplishments, and celebrate their every success.

This page is dedicated to celebrating our My World alumni!

Whether you’ve become a butcher, a baker or a candlestick maker, we celebrate YOU! You will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we know that we hold a special place in yours too 💙. So this one is for you guys!

‘I think the success of any school can be measured by the contribution the alumni make to our national life.’
— John F. Kennedy

So so proud of one of our youngest alumnus! Rayaan was chosen by Aga Khan Primary to play on the team against International School Moshi and scored the first goal! 💙

I HAVE LEARNT FROM MY WORLD THAT YOU ARE YOUR OWN TUTOR….

I have been part of My World since a really young age, 25 years in and I still feel like My World is home. It is where I took my first steps into education and knowledge. As My World has developed along the years, I have felt part of the journey, moving from one campus to the other.

I have learnt from My World that you are your own tutor, setting your own pace and interest from a young age. It is not necessary that the interests of one child would be the same as another child. This has helped me throughout my life by allowing me to plan my studies around my interest and pick options for both my degrees that would best suit my career.

Something that I must mention which reflects on my career is my love for colours that has come from my early childhood learning. The activities and involvement with different shades of colours has nurtured my creative side of looking at things.

My communication skills have significantly enhanced since I did a summer volunteering at My World. It made me realise that whoever is your audience, communication and the way you convey your message is key. This opened my eyes to a working environment and was a steppingstone. I currently work in London as a Business Analyst. It is still a learning curve, and I highly implement what I gathered from my early childhood, pick and choose my interest in my field. Colours and creativity play a vast role as I create visual graphs, design presentations and documents that need to be presented to the clients. I can proudly say, I have a great eye to details.

My advice to parents is; allow your child to build their own path from a young age, whilst supporting them. Do not force them or compare them to other peers. They will do wonders if they are left to choose what interests them the best. My World is honestly the place to start and you can always look back.

My World has always been a home to me, I have created a close bond that I don’t think I will ever lose. I am always welcomed back with a warmth by Rupal, Sonal, and the loving staff. I still tend to pay a visit when I get around.

EARLY LEARNING AT MY WORLD ALLOWS ME TO THINK BROADLY AND CREATIVELY….

16 years on...... I am currently taking a gap year before going to university to study African studies and history. In the meanwhile, I am designing and coordinating environmental related projects for the Museum for the UN.

The initiative is called My Mark My City and it aims to link empowerment and environmental sustainability by allowing ordinary people to engage with Climate Action. We are working with schools and other community partners to build gardens and organic fertiliser using food waste - this is a link that talks a little more about our conversations in Tanzania:

I’m truly grateful for the early learning that I have had through My World which allows me to think broadly and creatively, as well as explore all my options without any inhibitions which is a habit I have picked up since then. Looking forward to hearing from the other Alumni and see what they are doing!

MY WORLD IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING TIMES OF MY LIFE….

My World is definitely one of the most rewarding times of my life. Looking back, a lot of my current interests and values have been due to my early childhood years with My World.

One of my favorite parts about My World is that the teachers respect that each child learns differently and this gave me the confidence to learn things at my pace with the help of the caring teachers.

I recently completed my IB Diploma and I can say surely that my organizational skills have been taught to me through Rupal and Sonal. My love for animals (playing with the tortoises every breaktime!) has made me choose the path of pursuing a career in marine biology. Meanwhile, I am volunteering with an organization called Kilimanjaro Animal CREW: https://kilimanjaroanimalcrew.org/

My favorite memory of My World, by far, has to be the warm hugs I got every morning from Rupal, Sonal and my class teacher, Rakshita. It was something I looked forward to everyday and missed every weekend! 😉

Thank you for everything you do. You have a special place in my heart, always have, always will. I love you. 💙

THE EDUCATORS AT MY WORLD ARE MY ROLE MODELS…

My World nurtured my skills as a growing individual from a tender age, with its focus on student focused education, and emphasis on values and hands on learning.

I owe my innate sense of curiosity and love for learning to the place that made learning so much fun, that I was prepared to indulge into the IB PYP right after, despite being the youngest in first grade in my class.

I just completed my IB Diploma, 13 years after leaving My World and I still feel the impact of the strong foundations in literacy and numeracy it gave me.

It is definitely at My World that I first developed my love for reading, writing and inquiry, and now I am going to pursue a degree in Journalism, Media and Communication at Northwestern University. My parents, to this date, believe that I owe much of my academic success to my time at My World, and I agree too.

Lastly, this testimony would be incomplete without highlighting the dedication of Rupal and Sonal, and their commitment to make an impact on every child at My World. Personal connection goes a long way and every educator at My World is dedicated to help each and every student excel.

You two might not know this but I looked forward to coming to school every day because of people like you two, and back then, I didn’t know what a role model was, but now I know that the educators at My World were mine.
